Amber in Milan

Amber, the energy meter is being shown in Milan this week as part of The Other Hemisphere exhibition. Nine Australian Design practices have produced work inspired by the theme The Other Hemisphere. Each design requires the user to peer into the world that the object creates — and in doing so describes the act of looking into another place — whether that is yourself, the earth, elements of light and sound, another world or the universe; literally or conceptually. As a result, the exhibition fuses the simultaneous facts of this and the other, there and here.

The Urban Billy was awarded the Vogue Living People's Choice as part of the 2007 Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award. All the pieces selected by a panel of industry experts for last year's event were placed on the Bombay Sapphire website for people to nominate their favorite design. The award was presented in Sydney in October 2008 at an event where they named this year's finalists and winners.

Exhibition space by Elliat Rich for Ngapartji Ngapartji

The well known and celebrated Ngapartji Ngapartji project approached Elliat to design a portable and flexible exhibition system. The system needed to look good in the foyer of Parliament House to the art centre at Ernabella, fit in the back of a troopy and have the ability to readily change content. "Kind of like an analogue website, for people who are involved in the project and want to learn more about it, but don't have access to the internet". Elliat worked closely with Beth Sometimes from the Ngapartji Ngapartji project to deliver the system which made its debut at the Alice Springs Airport to correlate with the Regional Arts Australia art at the heart national conference.

Elliat Rich delivers on commission for Regional Arts Australia

In July 2008 Elliat Rich won the tender to produce 'artworks' for the inaugural Regional Arts Australia Volunteer Awards. The awards were established to rewards and provide volunteers national recognition for their contribution towards the arts across regional, rural and remote Australia. The awards were presented at a dinner held at the Alice Springs Telegraph Station as part of the national art at the heart conference during the first week in October 2008.
Taking the concept of 'national recognition', Elliat drew on two well-renowned and celebrated symbols of achievement; the AFL and ASHES trophies. Contemporary and traditional imagery of regional Australia were embedded into the trophies which were formed by the layering of laser-cut stainless steel sheets.
The thirteen recipients for the two categories of the award; the Sustained Contribution and the Youth Award all provided positive feedback upon receiving them. The commissioned artworks created a buzz around them during the conference.
