In late May, Elliat Rich travelled to Darwin for the presentations of the 2008 NT Research and Innovation Awards. The Northern Territory Research and Innovation Awards are an annual event created to recognise and reward the Territory's best thinkers and problem solvers - those people in our community who through their dedication to generating new knowledge, to finding answers to questions and coming up with innovative ideas, will help the Territory prosper economically, socially and environmentally. The other two finalists in the AusIndustry New Generation Award were Dr Ben Hoffmann, for his work with local Indigenous rangers on
the ecology and management of invasive ant species across the Top End of the Northern Territory and Dr Alice Rumbold for her research on the health of Indigenous women and their babies.
Other Alice Springs Researchers and Innovators were; StoryWall, Ngapartji Ngapartji, Dr Jocelyn Davies, David de Vries, and the Desert Fire Research Team.
Rich was awarded the prize for her design practice that focuses on sharing and promoting the uniques experiences of Central Australia through designed objects.
