Research trip to the Milan Furniture Fair.

An excerpt from my diary:
Let me start by saying that Milan was like an intensive course on the industry of Design. I forgot simple, common words because my brain couldn’t accommodate for both old and new knowledge. I didn’t stop the whole week, seeing up to 80 exhibitions a day, constantly throwing myself into uncomfortable situations under the banner of “you’ll regret it if you don’t”. Meeting more designer’s than I thought was possible and seeing more furniture than there are bums in the world (almost). I’ve made colleagues that I will keep in contact with for a long time and acquaintances who looked me up and down and thought I didn’t cut the mustard. It seemed like almost every conversation was a pitch and that production was God. My personal politics were put to the test, the assessor-meter went into over-drive and I’m still trying to decant a decent amount of sense out of the whole event. Truly it was big, big literally and big in terms of the impact it’s had/having on my practice.
